Experience 5 Notable Works Unveiled in Advance!

Massless Amorphous Sculpture | a Floating Sculptural Space Created by Bubbles

A mystical space of weightless sculptures floating like bubbles. They break when touched and regenerate.

A space that seems liberated from gravity, composed of just three elements: soap, water, and air.
When you touch the floating “clumps of bubbles,” they disappear as if melting into clouds.
I was captivated by the experience of becoming part of an uncertain floating body, as if I myself had been incorporated into it as an “existence.”

Just three elements: soap, water, and air.

Morphing Continuum | a Chain of Order and Energy

The moment when orderly spheres start moving all at once. Experience the “undulation of life” flowing through the entire space.

An installation where spheres move orderly in space, changing their flow greatly as they receive vertical and horizontal energy.
While “inherent” in the space yourself, you can experience the undulation of force that could be described as life-like.

Untitled (Provisional Title) | a Kyoto-Unique Work where “Life” Changes when Touched

Touch the iris and it scatters, new life sprouts.

An interactive work unveiled as a wall projection featuring flowers.
Touch the iris and it withers, then new flowers bloom – in the transience of this repeated life and death, I glimpsed a philosophical nature unique to Kyoto.
The types of flowers will also change with the seasons.

The types of flowers change with the seasons. This time, we encountered irises and morning glories.

Tori-michi / the Eternal Universe of Words | Immerse Yourself in Calligraphy and Life in a Video Space

An immersive experience where floor, walls, and ceiling are all filled with video

Two video works that you can immerse yourself in like a kaleidoscope, with floor, walls, and ceiling all enveloped in video.
“Tori-michi,” where hundreds of thousands of birds form flocks and fly, evokes a mystical sense of a collective of life,
while “The Eternal Universe of Words” creates a time where the space itself seems wrapped in prayer, as an installation where “calligraphy” continues to resonate in the space.

It’s recommended to lie down or sit to fully immerse yourself in the work.

Forest of Resonating Lamps | a Trail of Light Connected in one Stroke

A forest of lamps guided by a single stroke of light

The popular “Forest of Resonating Lamps” from the Odaiba exhibition appears in Kyoto.
As you approach the Venetian glass lamps, they react, and a “path of light” mathematically guided unfolds like a single stroke.
All surfaces – up, down, left, and right – are mirrored, creating an experience as if floating in mid-air.

A fantastical space where the brilliance of Venetian glass spreads across mirrored surfaces above and below

Summary | the Real Show Starts Now, Heading towards the Full Opening

What we could experience this time was about 10% of the whole. Dozens more works are planned to be exhibited,
and the full picture of this facility is still “evolving.”

As we approach the opening on Tuesday, October 7, we’re looking forward to seeing how Kyoto’s new art magnet will be completed!
